Can I take oral medication while I am using topical treatments?

It is learnt that the effectiveness of topical acne treatment (i.e. acne product that is used on the skin, such as a cream, lotion or gel) is increased and complimented when used in conjunction with oral medications. Generally, a BP (i.e. short for benzoyl peroxide, is an antiseptic commonly used topically in the treatment of acne and is well accepted as it does not induce bacterial resistance) cleanser or gel is initially used, followed by a retinoid and/or azelaic acid.

Once the acne is under control and we are ready to stop the oral antibiotics, a topical antibiotic can be added to complete the acne treatment regimen again.
